Have you played Half-life?
The main character of this highly-featured game is Gordon Freeman. A field scientist of the Black Mesa Research Facility. The research center consists of a large group of scientists dealing with anomalous materials. They successfully made a portal connecting our world to Planet Xen, a low gravity planet that's made up of floating rocks and other debris. Home of the aliens.
The whole flow of the game focuses on freeman's struggle for survival inside the wrecked Black Mesa Research Facility. Some of his ventures include crawling through vents, climbing steel ladders, avoiding toxic materials, beating up alien asses, and banging with the troops sent out by the government to kill him.
One exciting feature of Half-life is the way its levels are laid. You just don't sit back and pile up your alien kills. The whole game is filled with puzzles that will make your head spin. But don't worry, go to www.planethalflife.com for level walkthroughs. But I suggest you to try to figure out the puzzles on your own. Brain exercise.
Another thing, while in the game, you may communicate with the other scientists and the security guards for clues. Or perhaps you could use them as bullet catchers, just order them to follow you.
Half-life has two major mods. These mods focus on two different character point of views, both in the same situation as with the original one. These are bought as separate game items.
1. Opposing Force - You are Col. Shepard, one of the government troops sent out to kill Freeman. Best weaponry. Of course! You are a soldier in this mod.
2. Blue Shift - You are Barney Calhoun, the lovable security guard of the Black Mesa facility. Shortest of the three. Weakest ending, but full of puzzles.
These two mods give as much excitement as the original game, but totally different plots and levels.
I suggest you grab a copy of Half-life (plus the mods). And after you are done playing the game(s), check the new and improved Half-life 2. Out in stores now.
